U.S. trade agency to hold regional security forum in Cairo

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency will hold a regional transportation security forum in Cairo on Feb. 9-11.

The forum is aimed at helping countries in the Middle East, Southern Asia and Africa become better acquainted with U.S. supply chain security regulations and policies, such as the advanced manifest regulation for America-bound containers and the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism.

Also discussed at the forum will be the International Maritime Organization’s International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code and the World Customs Organization’s supply security guidelines. In addition, private-public presentations will be made about the Safe and Secure Trade Lanes Initiative and Operation Safe Commerce, USTDA said.

Registration is open to maritime and aviation officials, customs authorities, port and airport operators, freight forwarders, air and ocean carriers, and shippers. For more information, access Web site: http://www.trademeetings.com, or call Dan Lamey at (202) 347-2725.
