UN GROUP CONVENES TO DRAFT HARMONIZED CARGO REGIME
The United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), via its Working Group III — in conjunction with the Comite Maritime International, UNCITRAL’s advisory entity — has resumed discussions at the United Nations in New York on shaping a harmonized international cargo convention. The group had met previously in Vienna last fall.
The working group re-elected Rafael Illescas, from Spain, as its chairman, and moved swiftly through the first eight articles of a draft instrument that has been in process for a year. Meetings will continue at the UN through April 4.
