UNCITRAL study group will meet April 20
The Study Group of the Secretary of State’s Advisory Committee on Private International Law said it will hold a public meeting April 20 “to determine U.S. views” on the draft treaty harmonizing international cargo regimes being negotiated at the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).
The study group’s meeting will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the office of Holland & Knight, Suite 100, 2099 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington D.C.
Negotiations by UNCITRAL’s Working Group III will resume at United Nations headquarters in New York from May 3-14.
The current draft of the proposed instrument and related documents are available on the UNCITRAL website, http://www.uncitral.org.
Persons who wish to have their views considered at the April 20 meeting “are encouraged to submit written comments in advance,” said Mary Helen Carlson, attorney-adviser, Office of the Assistant Legal Adviser for Private International Law in the State Department, and leader of the U.S. delegation participating in Working Group III.
