Unions take aim at big four integrators globally
Union Network International and the International Transport Workers Union said they have designated today as a 'trade union day of action,' aimed at organizing more logistics workers.
'The aim is to expand union membership in the big four 'integrators' — DHL, FedEx, UPS and TNT — and build global cooperation between national unions involved in the same companies,' UNI said in a statement.
'The integrators are key links in the fast-growing global supply chains, and their business decisions affect workers in many countries. More than a million workers in the industry are already union members, and the evidence is that pay and conditions are better in unionized workplaces,' it added.
'There must be the right to join a union, that health and safety is respected along with a ban on all discrimination with equal opportunities for women,' said Rolf B'ttner, UNI-Europa Postal president.
