United seeks additional China route
United Airlines has applied to the U.S. Department of Transportation for permission to commence non-stop service from Chicago to Shanghai, China following a bilateral agreement earlier this month to increase the number of weekly flights between the two nations.
United plans to initiate passenger and cargo service Oct. 31 with a Boeing 777 and switch to a 747 jumbo jet by the summer of 2005.
United offers daily, non-stop flights between Chicago and Beijing, San Francisco and Shanghai and San Francisco and Beijing.
