UPS EXTENDS MAIL SERVICE TO DALLAS-FORT WORTH
United Parcel Service said Thursday it is expanding into the Dallas-Fort Worth area with its new presort mail service aimed at small-and mid-sized companies.
The service, launched in Atlanta in April, enables shippers who don't qualify for postal discounts on first-class mail due to lack of volume. UPS consolidates mail from these companies and tenders it to a presort company, which sorts the mail and delivers it to the U.S. Postal Service for final delivery.
Through the presort service, UPS stops by the business every afternoon to pick up the mail metered at a reduced rate and placed within specially provided yellow UPS bags.
The service is offered through a UPS business unit that includes services for flats — mail that's larger than a letter but smaller than a parcel, such as annual reports and prospectuses — and hybrid mail — and blend of electronic and physical mail.
