UPS INTRODUCES INTERNET PACKAGE RETURNS SERVICE
Looking to dominate the business-to-consumer market coming and going, United Parcel Service has introduced an online returns service.
The browser-based service allows online companies to integrate their back-end databases into the returns process to route returns back to suppliers — including merchants with multiple suppliers. UPS allows merchants to keep track of returns inventory, while reducing returns phone calls, and overall returns costs.
A customer can obtain a UPS mailing label from the online merchant's Web site.
Buy.com, which has been testing the service since June, said it has reduced incoming returns calls by 40 percent.
UPS said it handles more than half of purchases made over the Internet.
