UPS sued by family of accident victim
A woman whose husband was killed when his motorcycle was hit by a UPS delivery truck has filed a wrongful death suit against the Atlanta-based parcel delivery company and its insurance provider.
Sherry Brabbin McQueen claims in the suit that the UPS driver unexpectedly turned left into husband’s path last July 14, according to a news release from the law firm Motley Rice LLC.
The lawsuit asserts UPS rewards speed over safety through a system of incentives that push its drivers to meet tightly drawn schedules and punishes those who fail to do so. It also claims UPS knew the driver, Corydon Purdy, had numerous driving infractions, including speeding tickets, before UPS hired him.
