UPS said it will hire another 200 pilots to support its expanding air cargo operations.
The announcement brings the total number of UPS’s new pilot hires to 300 when combined with the 100 pilot hires the company announced in October 2004. UPS expects to complete the hiring of these pilots by the end of the year.
UPS said the pilot hires are needed to fill recent vacancies and support its latest acquisitions of planes.
UPS’s international route structure continues to expand with 12 new China flights. In addition, new planes are being added to the fleet. UPS expects delivery of 13 Airbus A300 and 11 Boeing MD-11 freighters during the next two years. The company also recently announced its purchase of 10 Airbus A380s, which it plans to begin flying in 2009.
