USDA continues food aid to Uzbekistan
The U.S. Department of Agriculture will sponsor the shipment of 2,500 tons of nonfat dry milk to the Uzbekistan government in fiscal year 2004.
U.S. Agriculture Secretary Ann M. Veneman made the announcement during a meeting with Uzbekistan government in Samarkand Monday. She said food-aid discussions between the two countries for 2004 will continue.
In fiscal year 2003, USDA provided $26 million in food aid to Uzbekistan, including $11 million in powdered milk and $15 million in rice and vegetable oil to be delivered early next year.
