USDA: GREECE FREE FROM FOOT-AND-MOUTH DISEASE, BUT STILL A RISK
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has added Greece to its list of regions considered to be free of rinderpest and foot-and-mouth disease, both highly contagious livestock diseases.
However, the USDA added Greece to its list of regions that are subject to certain restrictions because of their proximity to or trading relationships with rinderpest and foot-and-mouth disease affected countries. Restrictions will also remain in place for bovine spongiform encephalopathy, or so-called “mad cow” disease.
