USDA raises fee for new export health certificate

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has set its user fee for a new category of health certificate for livestock exports.

This certificate covers livestock that does not require test verifications or vaccinations before shipping. Livestock exports to Mexico and Canada do not apply.

APHIS said the fee change is needed to cover the cost to administer the certificate. Starting Oct. 1. The agency will set the new certificate fee at $33 per endorsement.

APHIS has authority to set user fees for cost recovery purposes under the 1990 Food, Agriculture, Conservation, and Trade Act.
