USF RED STAR BUYS REGIONAL LTL CARRIER
Less-than-truckload carrier USF Red Star Inc. said it has bought Plymouth Rock Transportation Corp. and some of its assets.
Plymouth Rock, based in Stoneham, Mass., provides overnight freight service to 11 eastern states from Maine to Virginia.
USF Red Star drivers will begin picking up and delivering freight from Plymouth Rock customers on April 21.
USF Red Star is a subsidiary of USFreightways Corp., which owns four other regional trucking companies.
