USTR POSTS SUGAR TARIFF-RATE QUOTA ALLOCATIONS
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative has published a country-by-country list of tariff-rate quota allocations for imported raw cane sugar, refined sugar, and sugar containing products for Oct. 1 to Sept. 30, 2002.
The quantity covered by the tariff-rate quota is 1,117,195 metric tons, divided among 40 countries. For the complete list of countries, access online: http://frwebgate5.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/waisgate.cgi?WAISdocID=5069104106+6+0+0&WAISaction=retrieve.
“These allocations are based on the countries’ historical trade to the United States,” the USTR said. “The allocations of the raw sugar tariff-rate quota to countries that are net importers of sugar are conditioned on receipt of the appropriate verifications of origin.”
