USTR RELEASES SINGAPORE FREE TRADE AGREEMENT TEXT, CHILE NEXT
The U.S. Trade Representative has released its 800-page text for the U.S.-Singapore Free Trade Agreement.
The agreement contains detailed timetables to eliminate duties on bilateral trade, rules of origin for goods, and the detailed schedules for commitments in services and investment.
The USTR also published 24 detailed issue summaries for the U.S.-Chile Free Trade Agreement, and expects to release the full text of the agreement by the end of March.
“By releasing the texts well before these agreements are signed, and months before Congress will vote on them under TPA (trade promotion authority) procedures, the public and interested parties will have ample time to review for themselves the results of our negotiations,” said U.S. Trade Representative Robert B. Zoellick.
Both texts are available on USTR’s Web site at http://www.ustr.gov.
