USTRANSCOM DETAILS DEFENSE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM ONLINE
The U.S. Transportation Command has made its Handbook 24-2, Understanding the Defense Transportation System, available on the Internet.
The handbook highlights for Defense cargo shippers and military personnel an understanding of airlift, sealift and traffic management capabilities; Defense Transportation System operations; statutory and regulatory guidance; and background on the Transportation Working Capital Fund. There’s also a section on future cargo transport technology.
USTRANSCOM, based at Scott Air Force Base, in Illinois, oversees the activities of the Air Mobility Command, Military Sealift Command, and Military Traffic Management Command.
