Vancouver strike forces Hamburg Sud to switch to Portland
Hamburg Sud said today that the truckers strike at the Canadian port of Vancouver has forced it to discharge all Vancouver-bound local cargo at the port of Portland’s terminal T6.
“Due to the severe and worsening congestion caused by the continuing truckers’ strike, we will no longer be able to fully discharge cargoes at Vancouver,” Hamburg Sud said in a statement.
Vessels on the weekly Asia/West Coast North America/South America “CASA” calling inbound from Asia will continue to make scheduled calls at Vancouver only for intermodal rail cargo discharge.
