VASTERA BUYS BERGEN INFORMATICA IN BRAZIL
Vastera, a provider of trade management solutions, has acquired Bergen Informatica Ltda, a Brazilian provider of software applications.
Bergen, founded in 1989, has more than 50 employees. Its customers include Ford, Volkswagen, Nokia, Johnson & Johnson, Texas Instruments, Bayer and Pfizer.
The purchase gives Vastera “a single integrated solution” on a “global platform from Canada to Chile,” said Mark Ferrer, president and chief executive officer of Vastera, which is based in Dulles, Va.
Bergen specifically will provide Vastera’s clients with software for import-export compliance, generating shipping documents, trade finance, customs entry and duty drawback.
In 2002, Vastera has also acquired two trading companies in North America: PRISMA, in Mexico, and Imanet, in Canada.
