VESSEL DETENTION DATA AVAILABLE VIA HAND-HELD COMPUTERS
Information concerning vessels detained at ports in the United States, France and Japan is now available to users of personal digital assistant devices such as the popular Palm VII, according to Maritime Information Systems, Warren, R.I.
MIS is the developer of the Maritime Global Network, where users can log into at http://www.mgn.com/palm for access to vessel safety data as well as market reports and industry news. Users can also search a database for recent and past vessel detentions.
The Maritime Global Network also offers second-tier Port State Control authorities with a cost-effective way to publish Port State Control to the industry, the company said.
