VIRGIN ATLANTIC CARGO TO ADD SECOND LONDON/CAPE TOWN FLIGHT
Virgin Atlantic Cargo will add a second flight per week between London and Cape Town, South Africa, starting Oct. 29.
The new flight will depart London Heathrow Airport at 5 p.m. Sundays, using an Airbus A340 aircraft, and will arrive in Cape Town at 6 a.m. the following day. Rapid turnaround will allow shipments to be cleared and delivered in Cape Town at the start of the business week on Mondays. Shippers will be able to deliver cargo into Virgin Atlantic Cargo's Heathrow air-freight processing facility as late as 1 p.m. for pre-built consignments and 11 .m. for loose shipments.
The existing London/Cape Town flight will be rescheduled Oct. 29 to depart Heathrow at 5 p.m. Fridays for delivery at Cape Town at 6 a.m. the following day.
The return flights will depart Cape Town on Saturdays and Mondays at 8:20 a.m. and will arrive at Heathrow at 7:35 p.m. the same day.
Virgin Atlantic will also boost capacity on its London/Johannesburg service, starting Oct. 29, by adding a B747-400 on Sunday and Friday flights from London. The airline will use an A340 for other London/Johannesburg flights.
