Virginia Port Authority and terminals give money to find truckers
The Virginia Port Authority and Virginia International Terminals said Tuesday they have each donated $5,000 to the Hampton Roads Maritime Association in its effort to train, hire and retain more big-rig drivers.
'It's pretty simple, as we handle more and more containers we have to have truckers to take this cargo to its final destination,' VPA deputy executive director J.J. Keever said in a statement. 'And with the Maersk terminal coming online in a little more that two years we're really going to need these drivers.'
