VOHMA conducting training in Miami
The International Vessel Operators Hazardous Materials Association (VOHMA) will be conducting a series of training courses at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Miami August 15 through August 18.
VOHMA, based in Queensbury, N.Y., will hold a one-day course on blocking, bracing and cargo securement August 15. The course features case studies on cargo damage related to improper blocking and bracing and provides recommended techniques to avoid damages. The one-day course costs $255 for VOHMA members and $275 for non-members.
That course will be followed by a three-day hazardous materials training program August 15-18. The course is based on the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code that governs the movement of dangerous goods by water'including both international and domestic moves. Training subjects include packaging, marking, labeling, documenting, handling, container packing, consolidating, shipping, transporting, goods under the scope of the IMDG Code.
The cost for the three-day course is $555 for members and $595 for non-members.
