Volga-Dnepr Group management changes
Russia’s Volga-Dnepr Group has made management changes at its outsize and heavyweight cargo airline Volga-Dnepr Airlines and scheduled cargo carrier AirBridgeCargo.
The company said the changes arise from the expansion of its business and its initial public offering plans. The move was also forced by Stan Wraight’s recent resignation as head of AirBridgeCargo to become chairman of Cargoitalia.
Alexey Isaikin, Volga-Dnepr Group's president, has taken on the additional responsibility of president of AirBridgeCargo, effective from Oct. 1.
Other changes include:
' Denis Ilyin appointed as senior vice president, Scheduled Cargo Operations (SCO) strategy and sales, AirBridgeCargo.
' Gennady Pivovarov: senior vice president of SCO operations, and general director of AirBridgeCargo.
' Sergey Dyachkov: general director of Volga-Dnepr Airlines.
Meanwhile, the second new generation IL-76TD-90VD freighter to join the Volga-Dnepr Airlines' fleet has successfully completed its first commercial flight from Sweden to the United States.
The 50-ton capacity freighter carried a 32.5-ton load from Gothenburg to Washington for Geodis Wilson Denmark A/S. The shipment included a 24.5-ton armored vehicle and a 20-foot container of equipment.
The new aircraft, of which previous versions were banned under International Civil Aviation Organization noise restrictions, was built for Volga-Dnepr by TAPO (Tashkent Aircraft Factory) and three more are due from 2009 to 2010.
