Weber, Aspen link up

Weber Logistics has formed an alliance with Aspen Logistics to better spread the influence of the two logistics service providers in the western United States.
Connie Anderson, the owner of Aspen, has been made a senior vice president at Weber.
Weber has traditionally been strong on the West Coast, while Aspen operates in the mountainous areas of the western United States. By teaming up, the companies now have 19 warehouses spanning 6.5 million square feet of distribution space. Both companies specialize in the refrigerated warehouse arena and the transportation of food and confections.
The two companies have partnered on past projects, according to Weber Chief Executive Officer Harry Drajpuch, so a lot of the needed infrastructure integration has already been completed.
“Shippers themselves are recognizing the operational synergies from sharing a distribution infrastructure. We’re applying that same strategy to our third-party logistics services,” Drajpuch said in a statement. “The alliance brings customers the combined expertise and distribution coverage of each company, with no new investment.” – Jon Ross
