WEBFREIGHT SIGNS ITALIAN PARTNER
Webfreight, one of the first online freight companies, has signed a partnership agreement with Milan, Italy-based forwarder Stefanelli Spedizioni Srl to expand its Internet forwarding services to Italian exporters.
A group of forwarding executives, led by Roy Parmenter, launched Webfreight in Britain last year. The company is now a member of the J2C group, an online business community with interests in the technology, power, paper, freight, transport, cement and oil industries.
Webfreight offers British exporters air freight rate quotes over the Internet within 30 seconds, landed cost pricing, online bookings and shipment tracking for door-to-airport and door-to-door deliveries to some 900 destinations.
“The decision to appoint Stefanelli as our launch overseas partner marks the start of what we anticipate will be a rapid recruitment program of international agents,” said Parmenter, Webfreight’s managing director. “There are a large number of strong regional forwarders which have expressed their interest in joining our Internet trading community and new opportunities are being presented to us each week.”
Using Webfreight’s technology, Stefanelli will launch online forwarding services to Italian exporters in August. “Webfreight is the key to entering the global Internet transportation community,” said Nicola Stefanelli, president. “We expect to double our air freight shipments within 12 months of the launch of Webfreight in Italy.”
