WES WYATT BUYS D.F. YOUNG, 100-YEAR-OLD FORWARDER
Wes Wyatt, a former part-owner of Pilot Air Freight, said Monday he is acquiring D.F. Young, a freight forwarder and customs broker that dates to 1903.
“While D.F. Young is an old name in the industry, we see the company poised for new growth,” Wyatt said, noting that D.F. Young will soon expand into international air freight, while retaining its traditional ocean forwarding and documentation services.
Wes Wyatt will be chairman of D.F. Young. His son, Wesley Wyatt, has been appointed president and chief executive officer.
Wyatt has also appointed Daniel J. Herron Jr. executive vice president. Herron was senior vice president of D.F. Young.
Based in Jersey City, N.J., D.F. Young has eight U.S. offices.
