Wilh. Wilhelmsen orders two more PCTCs from MHI
Norway’s Wilh. Wilhelmsen, a major shareholder in Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics, American Roll-on/Roll-off and Eukor, has ordered a further two pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs) from Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI).
The two ships, each with a capacity of 6,550 cars, are due for delivery in 2009. Wilh. Wilhelmsen has already received three same-size ships from an earlier five-ship order from MHI.
“To maintain our market position and secure our share of new markets, we must have sufficient tonnage,” said Ingar Skaug, Wilh. Wilhelmsen’s chief executive.
