WOOLWORTHS U.K. PICKS SAVI FOR INTERNAL NETWORK

Woolworth U.K., a retailer with 800 stores in the United Kingdom, has contracted with Savi Technologies, a provider of solutions for managing supply chain assets, to build an automated data system to manage shipments between distribution centers and retail outlets.

Savi will partner with Microlise, a logistics systems integrator, to fulfill the contract. Savi’s information network will give Woolworth “real-time visibility of the whereabouts of its stock, improve operational efficiency, and prevent crime within the supply chain,” said Geoff O’Neill, director of Woolworth’ Central Logistics for New Sales Channels office.

Woolworth’s’ goods in transit from its distribution hub in Swindon will be affixed with Savi’s EchoPoint tags, tracked by a radio frequency identification system.

Savi Technology is based in Sunnyvale, Calif.'
