Yang Ming’s profits soar

   Yang Ming Marine Transport increased its net profit fivefold in 2003, to NT$6.6 billion ($195 million), from NT$1.1 billion in 2002, according to unaudited results released by the Taiwanese company.

   Over the same period, operating income climbed to NT$4.5 billion ($131 million), up from NT$160 million in 2002.

   Revenues increased 38 percent in 2003, to NT$62.9 billion ($1.85 billion), from NT$45.5 billion in the previous year.
