YANGMING AND TANG ENG TO BUILD LARGE LOGISTICS HUB IN TAIWAN
Taiwan’s Yangming Marine Transport and Tang Eng have signed an agreement to build a large logistics center in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
The “DistriPark,” scheduled to start operations in March 2002, will occupy 8 hectares (or 20 acres) initially, increasing eventually to 23 hectares (57 acres).
Yangming said that the total investment for the entire project is about NT$5 billion (US$160 million).
The DistriPark is due to be situated in the middle of the Kaohsiung harbor area. Located close to the port’s deepsea berths, the facility will also be linked to the freeway and be near the Kaohsiung International Airport and the transshipment special zones. Yangming said that the DistriPark will have potential to integrate the land, sea, and air transportation and provide total logistics services.
Yangming has recently announced an expansion of its logistics activities and set up a logistics subsidiary called Yes Logistics Corp.
