ZIM INTENSIFIES COOPERATION WITH CSAV, NORASIA
Zim Israel Navigation Co. has stepped up its cooperation with Chilean carrier Compania Sud Americana de Vapores and its subsidiary Norasia Container Lines.
Zim and CSAV have reached an agreement for the introduction of one vessel, by Norasia, into the new Asia-Med Pacific service of Zim, for which CSAV will be allocated space on the Pacific leg of this service.
From this month, the weekly Pacific Northwest/Asia/Suez/Mediterranean/Suez/Asia/Pacific Northwest “pendulum” service employs 14 vessels of 2,500 to 3,000 TEU capacity on a weekly schedule covering the Mediterranean, Far East, and the west coast of North America.
Pending approval from the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission, CSAV will become a vessel-sharing partner in the service. In addition, both companies have agreed to swap slots on their services running between the Far East and the Mediterranean.
Zim recently announced the merger of two existing single-trade services in into the multi-trade Asia-Med Pacific pendulum service, and the introduction of larger ships.
The service has a rotation of Venice, Trieste, Piraeus, Haifa, Colombo, Singapore, Shekou, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Pusan, Vancouver, Seattle, Pusan, Shanghai, Shekou, Hong Kong, Singapore, Colombo, Port Said, Haifa, Alexandria and Koper.
China Shipping Container Lines, which exchanges space with Zim in the transpacific, is expected to take space on the Asia-Med Pacific vessels.
