Zumwinkel expects profit rise at Deutsche Post
Deutsche Post Chairman Klaus Zumwinkel said the German group has started the year well and aims to increase its profit in 2004, Reuters reported.
The group was on track to report 2.9 billion euros ($3.6 billion) in earnings before interest, tax and amortization for 2003, Zumwinkel told Reuters Thursday. Deutsche Post will report its annual result on March 10.
The executive said the group is expected to boost its earnings before interest, tax and amortization to 3.6 billion euros (about $4.5 billion) in 2005, following the implementation of cost-cutting measures.
Zumwinkel expects his group to make more job cuts in the United States this year, where Deutsche Post recently acquired the land operations of Airborne Inc.
Deutsche Post is the parent company of DHL, including DHL Danzas Air & Ocean.
